Kaye Browne is a storyteller whose own story started in NZ with her very first day as a reporter for TV1 News & Current Affairs on the day before her 18th Birthday. Youngest ever apparently – but she had the Journalism Diploma and was enthusiastic, if green.
Fast-forward 3 years to an even more enthusiastic now-Aussie she covered the gamut of News & Current Affairs stories from notorious murders & court cases – (Anita Cobby, Lindy Chamberlain amongst many), to Arts – (eg Gold Of The Pharaohs), Foreign Affairs – (Afghanistan, Rwanda) and Features – too many to list but it was her ‘why’ to move into directing and producing as well as writing.
Kaye’s first creation as Series Producer – Police, Camera, Action with Peter Brock was a surprise runaway hit, prompting a second series with numbers exceeding 2M each week. She EP’d ‘Brock The Legend’ Doco with never-before seen footage and iv’s with reluctant former foes as well as friends of the King of the Mountain – later sadly helping gather his family for the Ch7 Tribute.
Documentaries such as Twins-Their Secret World (with friend & respected filmmaker Catherine Scott) followed as well as early reality shows ‘Billboard Of Love’ and another hit series ‘The House From Hell’ with Amanda Keller and a stack of other shows.
Kaye took on part-time lecturing roles in Broadcast Journalism at Macleay College for a couple of years through her desire to give back – many of her students are on-screen and behind the screen and still friends – and like her – believe in always looking to grow their craft and help others along the way.
