Geoff Bennett

Geoff Bennett has been directing film and television since 1980. He has made three feature films: Hating Alison Ashley (nominated for four AFI awards), Turning April, and Boys in the Island. His documentaries include Wayne Gardner World Champion, Smart’s Labyrinth (a film about Jeffrey Smart), The Edge of the World (a film about Tim Winton), and Lighting Fires (a film about Tim Storrier). His work on the ABC series Winners – On Loan won an Atom Award and a United Nations Peace Citation, as well as achieving a runner-up place in the 1985 Prix Jeunesse. His television credits include Farscape, Heartbreak High, Wildside, Water Rats, Home and Away, All Saints, McLeod’s Daughters, Fireflies, Young Lions, Sea Patrol, Rush, Love My Way, Underbelly, House Husbands, Love Child, The Secret Daughter, Doctor Doctor, Bad Mothers, Wentworth, Harrow, Wolf Creek, MaveriX, and BUMP. He directed the telemovies The Great Mint Swindle, Power Games: The Packer-Murdock Story (winner of three AACTA awards including Best Director), Brock (about racing car champion Peter Brock), Informer 3838 (a film about the lawyer Nicola Gobbo), Vanishing Act (a two-part telemovie about fraudster Melissa Caddick), and Warnie (a two-part telemovie about cricket legend Shane Warne).
